Ceilings are us – The visible renovation begins.
So we bought a telephone line (ADSL) with a house attached. Â
We got our basic living quarters up and running and ripped out the first wall – see here – now the tedious work of renovation starts.
The existing warped and partially rotten existing ceiling in some rooms made the decision for a top down approach easy.
A careful but nevertheless enjoyable couple of destructive sessions revealed the roof space. No surprises there – the old original roof has had a face lift resulting in new timbers based on the old but very sturdy central and supporting beams. Taking is down is one thing – putting it back is quite another.
It is safe to say that nothing is straight. Well one expects this in an old building. Although wall shaped along the natural bends of beams where something new to us. Frequent breaks looking for fitting bits or simply to take sustenance with a bit of re cabling thrown in got us the desired results.

And the lights work – first time.
Now we need to repair the walls, deal with all the gaps, sand the floor, paint, get the bath room tiled, …..
No worries we’ll keep you posted.
