Converting the alpendreWith the help of friends

A lot of preparation and the help of friends (It’s the garden / house helping group, but that is another story) the alpendre (barn) was cleared and converted.

.

Electricity trial - will they all light up and stay lit up?Courtesy of our neighbours we could cover the floor with straw, raid our green houses / poly tunnels to get suitable tables and finally the test of the lighting showed that the “electrician” sort of knew what to do.

Saturday morning and the final decorations and the products go in

Saturday morning and the final decorations and all the nice things go in. Here in Galicia it is impossible to do it before, as the overnight dew will spoil the lot.

Where do we put what?

Anna and Lluis – the latest addicts of blogging – Textiles naturales en Ribeira Sacra Anna Champeney - prepared their stand.

Emely with productos ecologico

We had Emely withpreserves and special x-mas cake, being a fully trained silversmith some fine jewelry was on display.

Quilts, patchwork, christmas decoration, specal liquers, schocolate and lots more, all lovingly and patiently prepared / created, gave a real feel of a typical German Weihnachtsmarkt.

the evening brings magic to the market

The evening brings the real magic to the market.

A steady trickle of visitors, of whom quite a lot stayed and enjoyed a “Gluehwein – Stollen and/or Bratwurst” madeit all worth the effort. A lot commented on how nice it is and that it is different as here we find real artesans and home made things for x-mas.

Father christmas - papa noel - made an appearance

No Christmas market without the appearance of father Christmas (papa noel).Whats in it for me?

The children where a bit bewildered, as I’m pretty sure they did not expect Papa Noel to even know of Galica respectively be able to find Mer in deepest rural Galicia.

Some tears soon dried when Papa Noel found some sweet presents for them.

All in all it was a great success and we all including all the visitors had a great time. Will there be a second edition? You bet. 12th December 2010!
