The Pope – Alice Cooper – New art (Despoblacion)

Holy year!  The birthday of Jacobus was on a Sunday – Already pilgrims are flooding Galicia.

Even the pope will make a pilgrimage to Santiago on the 6th of November. I doubt if he will walk the required minimum of 100Km but than he is already pope and, as it is also Guy Fawkes night in the UK, it will probably rain.

Santiago, Jacobus or St James – Wikipedia details if you really want to know.

On the 7th of November he is expected to visit Barcelona  to consecrate the Sagrada Famila church, an engagement that was confirmed by the archbishop of the Catalan capital, Lluis Martínez Sistach.

The church, which was designed by the legendary architect Antoni Gaudí, has been under construction since the late 19th century.

Next is Alice Cooper ! On the 27th of November. Here is the article in the Voz de Galicia

If you are significantly younger than I am, you may want to watch the video - so you know what to expect.

Ian, from casa santo estevo, kindly put this link up on one of the forums and I have nicked it. Sorry Ian, but you get a nice link for it. Visit Casa Santo estevo Ribeira Sacra

All this doesn’t really help the depopulation in the rural areas of Galicia, which inspired a new piece of art in our growing garden.

Despoblacion - Depopulation - Entvoelkerung
Despoblacion - Depopulation - Entvoelkerung

Depopulation – Hang up your tools and go

Despoblación – Colgar sus heramientos y dejar

Entvoelkerung – Werkzeuge aufhaengen und weg

It sometimes feels like this. With less and less people about, except in July and August.

  1. No worries about “nicking” the bit I added to a forum. It there for all to read. I find it quite bizarre that the two are in the same city within a few days of each other.

    See you soon.

    Ian

PS no video of the pope to level things up?

  2. Incredibly insightful. I love the way you write. Do you have an RSS feed?
